The Top 20 Looks You Need to Know About for Winter 2023

The Top 20 Looks You Need to Know About for Winter 2023

We can now focus on the spring and summer 2023 fashion trends now that the days are growing longer and unquestionably warmer. Praise be! Now, even if you're reading this article while still donning a sweater (or light cardigan), know those warm evenings are soon to arrive.

With that in mind, it's time to familiarise yourself with all the major trends, colors, designs, and It-pieces that are predicted to rule the upcoming season. When shopping with your friends, keeping up with the latest trends will not only make you appear very "in the know," but you'll also know what to search for on the high street, allowing you to nab the cult items before they sell out.

Below, I've compiled a list of the sole trends you need to be aware of this season after scouring the runways of New York, London, Paris, and Milan. To begin with, we're going to primarily focus on the largest trends for 2023, but there are usually a few lesser micro trends you might want to experiment with midway through the season. Here are my top picks, starting with the most significant ones, covering everything from the colors and fabrics you'll want in your wardrobe to the cool details you'll start seeing everywhere:

    • Cutouts
    • Lime green
    • Mini skirts
    • Hot pink
    • Halternecks
    • Low rise
    • Statement trouser suits
    • Bras as tops
    • Butter yellow
    • Fringe
    • Bright co-ords
    • Feathers
    • Pleats

    1. Cutouts

It seems like just another day, just another cutout piece right now. The current negative space style is absolutely adored by celebrities. Of course, cutouts began making a comeback on the runway in the spring/summer of 2023, but this year, they're back and even more daring. Cutouts come in a variety of sizes and shapes, so there is a look for everyone who wants to try the trend, from putting a playful edge on longer, elegant dresses (Proenza Schouler, Giambattista Valli, David Koma, and Christian Siriano) to turning up the fierceness on minis and one-pieces (Christian Siriano, Stella McCartney, and Saint Laurent). Check out our editor's selections of the top cutaway dresses available this season.

Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Kourtney Kardashian, Megan Fox, Blake Lively, Julia Fox, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, Millie Bobby Brown, Selena Gomez, Bella Hadid, Zo Kravitz, Megan Thee Stallion, Vanessa Hudgens, and Anne Hathaway are some celebrities who have embraced the trend.

    2. Lime green

    2. Lime green

If The Grinch were sitting front row during fashion month this season, he would be in heaven. Why? due to the fact that lime green was virtually everywhere. The acid hue has been incorporated into upscale summer looks and fancy party dresses by Valentino, Erdem, and Christian Siriano rather than being restricted to Y2K-inspired tributes (see: Versace).

    3. Mini skirts

We haven't seen micro-mini skirts on the runway in a while, but we have to confess that we're kind of here for it. Minis are popular in high-waisted skirt suits (Prabal Gurung, Michael Kors), athleisure-inspired styles (Dior), and out-and-out "fits," in addition to Miu Miu's utility style, which has gained popularity due to its nostalgic appeal (Prada, Saint Laurent, Brandon Maxwell).

     4. Hot pink

Yes, highlighter colours will return in 2022 and give your summer clothing a revitalising zing. How about hot pink if lime green wasn't your first neon colour? Barbie-toned power clothing from head to toe is really popular right now. Look no further for chic coordinated outfits (Dior, Versace) and beach vacation wardrobe inspiration (David Koma, Prabal Gurung), as well as full-on extra outfits.

    5. Halternecks

This spring/summer, intricate loops, and criss-cross patterns can be seen everywhere on the runway. Yes, halterneck tops (Rejina Pyo, Christian Siriano, Chanel), dresses (Michael Kors, Valentino, Dior, Tory Burch), and even catsuits (Saint Laurent) are the epitome of "beach vacation" - lol-worthy tan lines be damned.

    6. Low-rise

Recently, the noughties made a call and announced the return of low-rise bottoms. Of course, not everyone (including the members of the present firm) like having a waistline that extends below the belly button, and many of us have vowed never to go back. If you're up for something risky, this detail will make a very clear reference to the runway set. Matching midriff sets are recommended (à la Isabel Marant, Versace, and Brandon Maxwell), or you can mix and match your outfit for a more casual appearance.
